Adebanjo Adegbola is a pharmaceutical scientist who studies drug dispositions and treatment outcomes, particularly in children and adult pregnant women. I obtained a PhD in Pharmaceuticcal Chemistry (Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacogenomics) in October 2018 from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, where I am employed as a lecturer in the Faculty of Pharmacy. I investigated the influence of pregnancy and genetic polymorphisms on the pharmacokinetics interaction between antimalarial medicines and antiretroviral drugs in my PhD project. Dr Adegbola has received a postdoctoral Fellowship funded by the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP). He is currently working on an efficacy study to investigate the impact of new mutations in the gene of dihydropteroate synthase on the protective effect of intermittent preventive treatment during pregnancy using sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine.
